A trip to Guruvayoor

A quick trip to Guruvayoor, Kerala during Diwali 2016.
Date: 31-Oct-16 & 1-Nov-16

Trip members: my wife, son, my brother's son & myself

We started from Chennai on 31-Oct-2016 after Diwali celebrations. We took Alleppey express to Thrisur. Guruvayoor is just some 30+ KMs from Thrichur. Train delayed at Coimbatore and reached Thrisur at 9am. The scheduled arrival was 6:30am.

Breakfast & coffee inside the restaurant at Thrisur railway station.

Booked a cab & stay at Ambady Kannan resort at Guruvayoor even before leaving to Chennai from Pune. On the way to Guruvayoor from Thrisur.

A quick refresh at hotel and started to temple by 11:30am, traditionally dressed, unless is mandatory we wont follow the rules, isn't it.

The cab driver told that the entry to temple is only till 12 noon while at the resort, the owner told the entry is only till 1pm. But I can see people entering the darshan queue even after 1pm, may be till 1:30 they allow to enter the queue. But temple closes at 2pm (as far as I saw).

Almost an hour waiting in the 'parallel queue' which enters into the main sanctum directly, not like a snake (as in other temples viz Shirdi Tuljapur etc). Had a good darshan, saw Guruvayoorappan and came outside by just around 2pm afternoon.

After an hour of shopping at West nada, had lunch in a hotel and came back to our resort.

Evening by 6pm went back to temple (for getting PAAL PAYASAM prasad). My wife went again for a 2nd darshan while we sat inside the temple, watching elephants around.

Went to Mammiyur Mahadeva temple and worshipped Lord Shiva. Had dinner at a hotel in West Nada and back to resort for a Good night sleep.

The next day - 1Nov16, went for a quick visit to Chavakkad beach and back to  Thrisur railway station in cab. Our train Rapthasagar exp delayed by an hour and came at 12:30pm instead of 11:40am.

Back to Chennai mid night passed on 2-Nov-16. We are very much delighted by the trip as we had a good darshan of Guruvayoorappan.
